I received a cigar that had been outside of a humidor for two months-rock hard dry. I've now hydrated it very gradually for 10 days. It has some give everywhere and also in the foot, which was the last place to indicate hydration; and as I remember if the foot has some give, it's ready to be smoked.

Do I have this right?

As I seem to recall if they get that dry no matter how much you bring them back they will never be the same, they lose much of their bouquet and oils.

I've read it is weeks up to months to rehydrate it properly and again even then it will never been the same, is this a 'special' cigar or something that you're dying to try or is it just the challenge of bringing it back from the dead?

I would probably give it more than 10 days -- maybe a month or more. If it was really dry it will take longer than that to soak in to that interior of the cigar. Just my

Bury it in the back or bottom of your humi for a couple of months and then give it a whirl.

I was just thinking, there was a thread awhile back someone saying their cigars were tunneling when he smoked them, burning down the center, I wonder if those could have been dry at some point and someone brought them back but not quite enough. If they were moist on the outside, yet dry down the center that would explain it.
