Default I'm Back...

Some of you may remember almost a year ago when I had to give up the pipe due to my parents displeasure with that hobby. Well now I'm out on my own, and living in Germany, and since its a bit too cold to go out and enjoy cigars for me right now, I decided I'd pick back up the pipe. I have four new pipes headed this way (Big Ben, two Savinellis, and a cob or two) and a decent supply of pipe tobacco.

Been missing this slope at times, and I'm ready to get back on it. Look forward to contributing here in the future.

Make sure you check out some local shops. Germany is one of the few countries where pipe smokers are still actively catered to by retailers. Sure it'll cost an arm and a leg but now's the time to check out the vintage tobacconists before they're all gone for good.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely keep it in mind as I travel. Do you know of any shops in particular I should make an attempt to swing by? I'm here for two years, so I have some time to find my way around and explore everything. Might add on for more time here if I can too once I'm done.

Thanks for the welcome Jason. You were one of the lucky ones to receive a chunk of my stash when I gave this hobby up a year ago. Shawn and Kevin made off with the rest of it. I'm in Germany with the AF for the next two years at least. Like it here so far though, so when the end of the two years is up and if I have the option to add on for two more, I very well might do that.

Anyway I wanted to repost in this thread to say thanks for the welcome back. Got a few PMs as well as posts here. I also decided I'd kind of give you an update on my progression back down the pipe slope...

Days back on the slope: 5

Number of pipes purchased: 5...

and probably have ordered around a pound of pipe tobacco of assorted varieties, which due to my past experiences should last me quite awhile. I dabble with my different blends, I don't tend to stick to one thing until its completely gone. Here are some pictures of the new lineup:

Brebbia Rocciata

Savinelli Saturnia

Savinelli Roma

Peterson Cara

Big Ben Presidential

Its great to be back...and a bit expensive of a start up... Oh well. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. Now for the wait to them all getting here.

Well, I can tell you this...you didn't forget how to pick a pipe! Very nice choices.

What kind of baccy did you get to go with it?

I typically like English styles, but occasionally Virginias as well. Throw in an Oriental every time or two, and Va/Pers as well...heck I smoke just about any kind of tobacco I think sounds interesting. Went with a few old standbys though to start back up, and a few new things I'm interested in trying. I also got a few Aromatics as I like to smoke those occasionally too--it'll give me something to smoke in the cobs and maybe my meerschaum if I can get that shipped to me. Here's the tobacco damages, at least what I can remember, a few might slip by...

Samuel Gawith: Kendal Mayor's Chocolate Flake 50g (always been real curious about this, so I had to get it.)

McClelland: Frog Morton Across the Pond 50g (favorite of the FM series--smoked a lot of it when I was in the hobby before)

Samuel Gawith: Squadron Leader 50g (x2) (Great english blend, another favorite)

G. L. Pease: Maltese Falcon 2oz (was very interested in this blend when it came out, unfortunately that lined up right around the time I had to give up the hobby)

G. L. Pease: Westminster 2oz (another english I've wanted to try for some time)

Rattray's Red Rapparee (sounded good, I liked Old Gowrie quite a bit)

Orlik Golden Sliced (Just wanted to try another one...)

MacBaren Vanilla Creme (sounds like a good Aro...I guess I'll find out...)

I think that's it for now, but there's bound to be more as I read and become intrigued with more stuff...this slope is brutal...
