I can't believe I have 5 guys on IR right now!!! Not fourth liners either. Phillipe Boucher, Mike Smith (G), Thomas Vanek, Tomas Kaberle, and Danny Briere.

Man, I'm still getting used to this rotisserie scoring. I had one of my best nights in a while and I still lost points. I know how it works but it is still strange.

Darn you Prefy!!! Stay away!!!

Well seems I couldn't get to sleep tonight as I'm hacking like crazy(coming down with a cold) so I decided that I would crunch some numbers to how much of a difference there would be if our pool used the S% stat instead of the GAA stat. Personally I think S% is a more reliable stat when trying to measure individual goalie performance like we are doing in this pool.

Here's what I cam up with:

Take what you want from these stats but I thought it was interesting to see some significant point differences between the two stat. Hopefully my data entry skills are O.K. and I inputted the data properly but keep in mind its 4:35 in the morning.

With only one day left, it looks like we have our winners!!

Congrats to Brett (romwarrior) for winning the 2008-2009 CA Fantasy Hockey!!

Congrats to Dave (Bigwaved) for second place!!

As per the initial post, please send (at least) 2 nice cigars to Brett, and (at least) 1 nice cigar to Dave....

Brett and Dave, I will also send an e-mail out through YahooFantasy. Please PM Brett and Dave for their addys, and please post DC numbers in the thread by April 26th. In 3 previous years of running fantasy hockey, we have only had 3 players not honor their commitment, hoping that number stays the same after this year.

Thank you all for playing, and you 15 will all be the first 15 invited to play again next season. I had a blast, I hope you did too.

There has also been talk of doing a cigar pool for the playoffs. 16 teams, 16 players, Basically, everyone who is interested would commit a 5'er of good cigars. We would then put all 16 teams in a hat, and pull them out, randomly assigning each player a team. We could do something like 10 5'ers for the Stanley Cup Champion, and 6 5'ers for the runner up? PM me if you want in on this, you 15 will get first crack before I open it up to others.

Thanks again, and Let's Go Hawks!

Next season I need to pay more attention to the scoring categories. I drafted thinking the penalty minutes were still in effect. I had a lot of mad scrambling to do to get rid of my goons and pick some scorers. I think the auto draft machine was broken, too. How else would it pick a broken down fishstick goalie(DiPietro) for a Ranger fan.

PIMs will come back next season, Dave.

I have Patrick, Brett and Albert committed to the playoff pool? Any other current fantasy players want in?

Not drafting a worthwhile goalie cost my ass bigtime early in the season. Started in the bottom 3 and moved up into the top 10 so it is a moral victory. Thanks Tom for running this.

Thanks everyone...I felt ending up in 7th was a victory after languishing in the bottom 5 most of the season.

Still looking for yay or nay from all of you regarding a playoff pool, it would need to be set up by Wednesday afternoon.

Congrats to the winners!

I have no idea how I came in 11th as I got pissed off early not knowing how to run the damn thing and essentially just "let it ride" the entire season.

I'm a much happier hockey guy just watching I think.

Have fun with the playoffs and Tom, I will not take up a slot next year. Let a guy play that is smart enough to handle it.

11th place after not playing most of the season? I think you underestimate yourself, Al.

Another who will not be back next year. Just don't like the routessiere way of playing. Could be that I'm stupid, but I had a real tough time.

Congrats to the winners. Will send out my cigars soon.

I will have mine out on Monday or Tuesday the latest. The Post Office here is absolutely crazy today (4/15) and I won't have the chance to get there Thursday or Friday.
