Default Rescuing a Dog

My family has long wanted a second dog around, looked at a lot of breeders but thought we could do more good with a rescue. So we are trying to adopt this fella. He is currently in a foster home where he was placed after being rescued from a home where he was not treated very well to say the least. I am hoping to have another smoking buddy soon!!

His name is Ice, he is 2 years old.

I hope the new pup is the best dog you have ever had, my rescue dog was one of the sweetest loving dogs I've ever had.

Careful Bro!!!! We started rescuing (not adopting) St. Bernards a few years ago & it has become very addicting to say the least.

I now have 3 very large smoking buddies!! We rescue them, love them & teach them to love and then by the time they are ready to be placed....... WE KEEP THEM!!!!!

It is a great feeling knowing that most can be turned around and have a great life with a good bit of time and love invested.

You are a good man for helping needy pups Bro!!!

Kudos, Jeff. Grace and I are on a Golden Retriever rescue list. I'm looking forward to the opportunity.

Love the pic of the dog too -- Ice is very appropriate.

Congrats Jeff!

Huge dog lover myself. Ice looks like a great guy and should be very happy in his new home. Very kind thing you are doing.

As a hockey guy I think his name is so cool.

The 3 we have now share the house with me, the wife and 2 daughters and it is just like having 3 more full grown adults in the house.

Blue & I considering putting up a heated & cooled poll barn this spring with 8-12 kennels in it so we can get more involved with the rescues. Looking at trying to cover the north eastern & south eastern sea board for St Bernard rescues. You would not believe how many people down south buy these dogs who are not bread for the heat and the decide it was a bad idea. not to mention the amount of food they consume.

I have 14 acres with a nice size creek running threw it so we have more than enough space and I work with many people who bring me 80lb. bags of dog food to support our troops that we currently house and are willing to do so for the support of a larger # of these gentle GIANTS as our family grows.

My heart and support goes out to anyone who is willing to help a domesticated animal in need.

Great looking dog. Beautiful eyes.

When I was growing up, all our dogs were rescues. My dad always told us that it didn't make sense to go buy a dog when so many needed good homes. As a result, we've found some gems over the years.

Wishing your family a happy holiday season and hoping it includes a new member.

With the exception of TJ we have always gotten our dogs from pounds or rescue. My neighbor does Cocker Spaniel rescue - she always has a handful there.

That's a cool looking boy. I think retreiver mixes are the greatest family dogs, especially if you have kids.

Awesome work buddy. I'm a huge suck for dogs. I visit the Toronto animal shelter occasionally and it's just heartbreaking. It takes all the will in the world not to walk out of there with ANOTHER dog!

I hope everything works out! Keep us posted.

Hate to see dogs that are mistreated, just don't understand how someone could do that. Is an awesome thing what you are doing, hope it all goes well!

Congrats on going the adoption route! Many deserving dogs out there for loving owners. I thought that I wanted a pharaoh hound puppy really bad, but once I spent time with adult greyhounds, I was hooked. I lobby almost daily for more, but for now just the one.

He looks pretty mellow and attentive, a great combination. I hope this one works out, but if not, I hope there is another good candidate on the horizon.
