Wake is cheap, and Papi got the job done in '04 and '07.

Crawford will be 37 yrs old at the end of his contract.
While this isn't ancient, his main + attribute is speed.
It should be the skill that deteriorates first.

That doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be playing for the Sox by then.

Last season he had 102 RBIs and an OBP of .370 as well as being an All Star. With a little more protection, he should do even better this season.

Maybe he'll shorten that zero production streak down from 5 to 4 weeks

And you still don't have a catcher worth a damn

And don't forget, he was 0-for-0 in the playoffs, which is batting a thousand!

Yankees Trivia:
In 1951, which Yankees pitcher became the first American League moundsman to toss two no-hitters in one season?

Bonus prize if you have the dates of the no-hitters.

Since it is the weekend I will give you until Monday to make your guess (remember only cheaters use google).

This Date in Yankees History:
1986 - Yankees signed Joe & Phil Niekro and Butch Wynegar.
1987 - Yankees signed Willie Randolph & Tommy John.
1998 - Yankees signed Darryl Strawberry.
2007 - Yankees signed Doug Mientkiewicz.

Yankees Birthdays:
Carl Pavano (he probably hurt himself blowing out his candles), Jason Giambi

The Yankees lost another member of the family on Thursday. Ryne Duren pitched for the Yankees from 1958 - 1961. He had a 100 mph fastball and was known for his wild throws while warming up on the mound. He was an All*Star three times. He pitched in two World Series with the Yankees winning a ring in 1958.

Ryne Sandberg was named after Duren.
