Default If you could build the perfect draw tool

How big of a diameter would you like to see

I am thinking 1/16th I have some draw tools that have a tendency to cause splits in smaller RG sticks. Perhaps you want two sizes. A 1/16th and a 3/32nd?

Would you like it to be a drill bit? So you could drill it in and maybe draw a bit of tobacco out?

How about handle? T Style...........L Style or just a round handle.

Your thoughts would be appreciated

T or L style so that it could be "wound", flat tip so it could be slid between the leaves instead of ripping through everything. compact enough to slide in your pocket, but long enough to get half way through a churchill.

ive never used a drill bit, so not sure how that would affect the construction of the cigar.

Joey had one that was flat that worked great. not sure who made that

it's have to be a really skinny drill bit...I've heard of BOTLs using a portable drill with bit and they say it works like a charm.

I had a hand made cigar-spike type tool that I made from pictures of the real Cigar Spike, a small small phillips head screw driver from one of my sons toys, and a tooth pick today, and not one of them could save this plugged La Flor de Cano I just tried to smoke.

I think sometimes a plugged cigar is just a plugged cigar

If it was "perfect" it would just make the cigar afaird to be plugged in the first place.

I use a drill bit, 1/16" and about 8" long; just use my fingers to "drill" a couple of holes through the cigar and have never had a problem. Seems to go in easily.

The drill bit thing sounds really interesting... but I have a set of Grant's tools and am absolutely thrilled with them. I have two more sets on the way so I have them in all of me smoking spots and for maybe giving one or two way.

The have a flat, sharp, chisel like end that really cuts through the plugged part.

I have a set of the ones that were sold as 'Henry's Tools' on CS. Regardless of what happened with the guy who made them, they work great, almost every time. They have a flat chisel-point to get in, but the shaft is flat and smooth, so they don't pull anything out. They just open a channel for smoke to pass through.

I want a draw tool that sniffs out plugged cigars. Automatic centering would be nice too.

I like the ones with "file' texture, where when you move them in and out they "file" out some of the tobacco, this helps prevent the tobacco from expanding back where the hole you created was and plugging the cigar back up.
Some sort of centering would be good, but once you use a draw tool a few times I think you're not very likely to poke a hole through the side of a cigar, at least I haven't after the first few times I used a draw tool (knock on wood).

I have been using a drill with a bit in it lately and it works pretty well. A T-handle with a drill bit would be great.

Something like this perhaps?

But really, a 1/16 or 1/32 rasp/round file would be best. No T handle needed.... If you need that kinda leverage, just pitch it man. I just want a handle that would prevent the end of the tool from becoming embedded in my palm.
