Default Crab feed help

Hey all,

Over the XMas break; my cousin invited me to go to a crab feed with him. Sadly I have never been to one yet I've always wanted to go. Now from what I can tell; the feed will essentially only be cooking the crab and providing minimal seasoning (butter perhaps?).

I've heard of people bring cocktail sauce or a garlic/basil concoction. Is there anything you guys bring that have attended these? Please let me know as I'll be attending this Friday.

Even better than unlimited crab... OPEN BAR!!!

If you need to bring or add seasoning to the crabs, someone screwed up.

If they don't look like this, ask the host to bring out the REAL crabs

Charlie is wise. You dont need anything Danny. Most often Dungeness crab will be unseasoned.

A Crab Feed? What are you going to feed them?

Just kidding with you bro, I assumed it would be called a boil. Learn something new every day.

Bring plenty of beer for yourself and others, along with a gift for the host.
Just like you'd do if you were invited to a dinner party, a gentlemen brings a little something for the host or hostess. If it's at your cousins you should know what he likes. Something for the wife goes a long way!
And bring enough cigars to pass out, there will be moochers.
Have fun and don't wear your best shirt, it will get messy!

Boiling is for you misguided southerners, they need to be steamed!

We call it a crab feast around here.

Sorry guys, these aint no peenie little blue crabs. Out here in January, many non profit org's run "Crab Feeds" to raise funds. Dungeness crab, usually 2lbs and larger. Sometimes pasta and bread is also served. Usually they precrack all the legs but a nutcracker or small hammer can be helpful. I have helped out at a couple in the past, it's a mad house keeping up with all the crazed crab eaters!

Thanks for all of the replies. This is being hosted by the local Men's club in some hall. Unfortunately I don't think they allow smoking; yet that won't stop me from bring a few stogies in the event there is room & time for a post "feed" smoke. Booze is covered as this is an open bar event.

Like Bob said: As much as crab & alcohol as I can stuff in me. Should be a good time. I'll try to snap some pics with the iPhone to document the destruction.
