Default 'meat concoction'

From the web site for a local TV station (www.katu.com). Kind of creepy since McD's got in all sorts of trouble for misleading people about their fries. Can only imagine the outrage if there are things like pork in the beef taco...

UNDATED – Is it mystery meat, or the real thing? It looks like someone has a beef with Taco Bell.

A new lawsuit has been filed against Taco Bell over the "beef" it uses in its food. The suit, filed by an Alabama law firm, alleges the fast food chain falsely advertises its meat as beef.

But if it isn't beef, then what is it?

The class-action lawsuit calls it "a meat concoction with multiple fillers." If so, a lawsuit means you could see full disclosure – or a Taco Bell menu change – if that Alabama law firm gets its way.

Taco Bell has not yet responded to the allegations. Taco Bell is owned by Yum Brands Inc., which is based in Louisville.

The news of this lawsuit comes just days after Taco Bell announced it's pulling ads from future episodes of a racy MTV show called "Skins." Taco Bell advertised on the show's debut this past week, but now spokesman Rob Poetsch says the chain has decided the show "is not a fit" for the brand.

Critics say "Skins" glamorizes promiscuous sex, drug use and drinking. It is based on a hit British series of the same name. As such, MTV released a statement Friday that says it is following all legal guidelines with the show and even warning viewers of the content so they can choose for themselves.

Still, Taco Bell is shifting its ads to other MTV programs that also draw Taco Bell's core customer group of 18 to 34 year olds.

Critics of "Skins" include the Parents Television Council, where communications and public education director Melissa Henson applauded Taco Bell. She said the chain's MTV advertisements, according to Associated Press reports, risked "tarnishing its brand."

Getting past the humor of the fact that you thankfully did not post this in "Good Eats"...

Meh.

Not the first time these allegations have surfaced about a fast food restaurant, probably won't be the last either.

Talk about fillers. The reporter reported more about how Taco Hell was pulling ads than whether it's "beef" in the tacos. I hate when articles do that, refer to something that has no bering on the original intent of the article.
