Racer 5, Stone and Ballast Point. All very good.
Maharaja is yummy, too.

The "shoulda" list that I wish I had also bought after getting home is Espresso aged Yeti, Founders Rye IPA, Founders Centennial, Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous. This place had a LOT of stone. We get it here but not as many choices...
They also had Firestone XV but at $20 I hesitate to pay that for any beer.

Stone is just up the road. Ballast Point is also local.

Founders isn't even available out here.

it's funny, they don't drink that much beer. usually in the fridge they'll have shipyard export ale, dos equis, sam adams, long trail - nothing awful just nothing adventurous. gave them a couple of the beers i brewed - surly furious clone and stone ruination clone - and they actually claimed to like them a lot. i figured they would be put off by the big hops but i guess not.

I went out yesterday in search of a bottle or two of KBS. I had three stores targeted that were all in the same general vicinity. First stop...grabbed two bottles! I decided to continue my travels, but I wasn't able to get any more KBS. But hey, who walks into a liquor store and doesn't walk out with something? Not me! Here's yesterday's haul.

Apparently I was in a Founders/DFH mood!

The third stop was one of those so-called out of the way, small places that most people won't go looking for something like this. That's where I was surprised to find a four pack of FBS.

That happened in NJ with CBS this year. Unreal. Somehow it wasn't 100% known KBS was coming this week in NJ. I asked a guy at the store if they were getting it and his answer was "We're not sure, and don't call and ask," alluding that regardless if they got it or not they would say no.

At least it gave me a fighting chance.

This is the kind of crap that drives me crazy. It's almost as bad as those automatic sequencers event companies use that crash Ticketmaster whenever a high profile concert goes on sale.

Makes me thankful that I homebrew and can recreate a reasonable alternative to these (often) overly hyped commercial beers.

LMAO.

We were lucky enough to pick up some at an out of the way liquor store last year. Obviously not so lucky this year. It is honestly one of the top 2 or so brews I've ever had. That and Surly Darkness. There are other very good stouts I've had, but they didn't hit me quite like this did. It's just another example of why there are so many brews and cigars out there...different tastes for different folks.

Gerard, if I had time to brew my own beer, I would. But it's just another expense that I don't really need to add to my life right now. LOL
