Default Seasonal Beers

With the leaves changing and a chill in the air we are coming up upon my favorite time season of the year...Beer Season, or more specifically, the seasonal beer season.
I've been drinking pumpkin ales reciently mostly Buffalo Bills and Jacks, which happens to be a pretty good offering from AB. The Harvest Moon ale really didn't do anything for me, and the Dogfish Head Punkin' Ale was to much like drinking the juice from and actually pumpkin rather than a beer with spices.
I can't wait for the Winter and Xmas beers to start showing up on the shelves and on tap; St. Nikolas Bock, Great Lakes Xmas, Goose Island, the Sam Adams sampler (except for that god awful lambic they always put in there) and then the Imperil Stouts.

I'll tell you this, my favorite holiday beers are the Anchor Merry Christmas and happy new year ale and the best is the Old Fezziweg Ale found in the Sam Adams seasonal sampler.

Definitely looking forward to the winter ales!
Currently I am enjoying the Goose Island Harvest Ale. Goes great with the cooler months of Fall.

Blue Moon's is pretty good. Ichabod is one of my favorites this season. Another very good one is Flying Dog's Dogtoberfest.

If you want a pumpkin beer that tastes like pumpkin pie spices. Weyerbacher imperial pumpkin and Southern Tier Pumpking fit that bill quite nicely, both are quite high in abv. though 9-10%.

One of my favorite micro-breweries is in Estes Park, CO. In the fall and winter they would do a raspberry-porter , they just mix their raspberry wheat and their porter.

Octoberfest by Samuel Adams is still around. Go get some before they sell out. My favorite beer anytime of the year.

From the Samuel Adams website:

"The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel AdamsŪ Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel AdamsŪ Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel AdamsŪ Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews."

I picked up a couple cases of Sam Adams Octoberfest and Dogfish Pumpkin as they have been my two favorites this year and want to keep some around post-season.

Man, I wish we could get Dogfish Head out here in Oklahoma. I've had to settle lately for things like the Reverend, Salvation, and Hog Heaven Barleywine from Avery...

Jack,
GL Xmas Ale was released 2 weeks ago. I bought a 6 pack. This years brew is very hearty on the "ginger" not too much sweetness of the honey[damn bees]. Also the price went up $1 a 6pk to 10.99
