Default Joya de Nicaragua Antano dark corojo peligroso

About a month or two ago two of the Joya de Nicaragua lines were added to the portfolio of the Dutch distributer. He chose the Joya de Nicaragua clasico claro and the Joya de Nicaragua Antano dark corojo cigars to be added and I reviewed them all, except for the Joya de Nicaragua Antano dark corojo Peligroso and so here it is.

This 5x45 cellophane wrapped cigar has a price tag of 4 euro. The cigar has a dark wrapper which is oily and shiny. It has some veins and looks tough. The bands are fantastic and I smell some straw and a barnyard. The construction feels good and the predraw is fine. I taste tobacco, herbs and raisins. I dry boxed the cigar to prevent burn issues like I had with the other Joya de Nicaragua Antano dark corojo cigars.

I taste a sweet soil flavor with a mild spiciness. After a quarter of an inch I also taste some citrus in the aftertaste and that citrus flavor is slowly growing stronger. After an inch the sweetness disappears and I taste that earthy flavor with wood and a splash of citrus.

The earth flavor grows in strength and halfway I taste some white pepper too, with the same amount of citrus as before. After two thirds the cigar gets spicy with more pepper and more herbs.

This cigar lasted me for ninety minutes. The draw was great and I got a lot of smoke. The dark ash is quite firm. This cigar has a beautiful burn, the flavors and the body are both full.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes I will.

Appearance: 8 / 10
Construction: 8 / 10
Draw: 9 / 10
Burn: 8 / 10
Smoke & ash: 8 / 10
Aroma first part: 8 / 10
Aroma second part: 8 / 10
Aroma third part: 8 / 10

Great review.

I picked up a 5er of these for my time away from home. It got moved to my box worthy list very quickly. I think I have one left. It is a tasty smoke.

Nice review, I'm a fan of these. Didn't care for them fresh, but bought a box of these and stuck them at the bottom of the cooler for nine months. After that they were fantastic.

How does this cigar compare to the Antano 1970, Ferdinand? I've always been a fan of the 1970.

I'm a huge fan ithe 1970 I agree that the '70 is a much better stick.

I was excited when this cigar first hit the market but was underwhelmed when compared to the '70.

The Dark Corojo seems to have a slight sour taste that puts me off, and I find that flavor in all of the ones I've smoked.

Perhaps if I let some sit for a while like Ratters did, it'll be a more enjoyable smoke

I also pick up a "different" flavor with these. It's not sour for me per se, more like a slight tang (not the drink though, lol), but it's definitely unique to these cigars. I've had some hanging around and so far they've retained this flavor...
