Vicksburg humidor tape job
I've been struggling to keep my vicksburg above 60% RH. I noticed that when dropping the lid closed it kind of 'clanked'. After this tape job (blue masking tape) it now whooshes. I'll follow up with RH readings.

Re: Vicksburg humidor tape job
I'd be concerned about the adhesive used on the metalized sealing tape adversely affecting the humidor and/or it's contents. Last roll of that stuff I bought came with a few toxicity warnings.

Re: Vicksburg humidor tape job
If you were losing a lot of humidity before, maybe you could try re-seasoning it again now that you fixed some of the leak issues.
I also had a glass top and finally gave up on it. I put a bead of hot glue where the glass met the wood. There was no seal of any kind before. I tried bees wax as well, but I did a poor job of it. Finally just took over the wife's vino. |

Re: Vicksburg humidor tape job
Just an update: The tape seems to have made for much faster recovery after opening. It gets back to 63% in a matter of minutes now, instead of hours.
