Default Consensus of La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial?

I was wondering what other BOTLs here at the madhouse have to say about this line of cigars. I am considering a box of these for my birthday.

I have smoked one and did enjoy it a lot from what my notes tell me. I have another resting. Just wondering how they compare to other higher end sticks like Don Carlos, Padron 64s, DC Maximus, Ashton VSG, and others.

I have read some reviews and it seems they are well received and a good smoke for the price.

Yeah I know, the best smoke is the smoke you like personally.

These are outstanding in my book. I also believe they were in the top 5 cigars for 2008 by CA. If I were going to buy a box of higher end NCs, these would be at the top of the list.

I have enjoyed the two I've had, I don't know if you could accurately compare the sticks you mentioned because they are completely different types of tobacco but if you generally like Pepin products and Nicaraguan tobacco they are a good purchase.

I really like this cigar. Great flavor and construction and they are cheaper than most of the other cigars you mention.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I really didn't like the ONE I had. It rested for about 5 months. It had a flavor that I couldn't put my finger on, but I really didn't like it at all. I ended up putting it down early. I didn't take any tasting notes, so I can't add too much to the conversation other than an opinion. Sorry...

I had one, and enjoyed it. Lot a lot of complexity in the one I had, but excellent contruction and a good flavor.

I, as well, have had two and they were good. It was a little while ago so the flavors are out of my memory. I was satisfied with the singles I had but was not running out to buy a box.

These are a decent smoke but IMHO not as good to the others you mentioned. Considering the smokes you mentioned I'd recommend you try an Esencia made by BOTL same folks that make palio. If you have trouble finding them drop me a PM I can send you one to try before you buy.

not as pricey as the others you mentioned, nor as full bodied, but excellent smoke through and through....

I've had a few, no. 3 and no. 5, and they are very good smokes, particularly for the price. IMHO, though, they are not as good as the others that you mention. The others are more full bodied, more powerful, and, to my palate, more interesting. But they're also quite a bit more expensive.

My general rule is not to commit to a box until I've smoked a few, liked them, and found the price to be reasonable for the enjoyment I got. If you've smoked a few of the LAdC EE and you enjoyed them, and the price is right, get a box.

I have smoked one...YEP!
Just one..

I told the CENTERSTREETCIGAR.COM owner, KYLE that it needed some aging on it.
It was in his shop for a couple of months.
Harsh and NOT FULLY DEVELOPED.

Seeing the post above where he stored for ~ 5 months...

Maybe these need a year on them???

Most here have REALLY liked them....
BUT THEN....see my sig line
hahaha

I have smoked my fair share of these and absolutely enjoy them. If I were you before pulling the trigger on a box purchase I would at least try a couple more just to be sure that they are what you remember. Just my as I have bought boxes on memory and have been disappointed with my decision.

I enjoyed the 2 robustos I have smoked. Nice toasty, nutty flavors. Similar to the Tobacco Baez blend from Pepin.

So today I fired one up and enjoyed it. The burn was great even in the wind. It had a bit of a pepper kick to it and kind of numbed my lips. I think I am going to pass on a box of these as I enjoyed the Avo Maduro I had afterwards even more.

Next up is the DC Maximus and a San Cristobal.
