Default mold

I noticed a little white what looked like mold in my desk top humi. I wiped it out with a rag. Should do anything else? Didn't notice any on my smokes.I thought distilled water was suppose to keep that from happening.

I don't think distilled water helps against mold. It helps against mineral buildups I'd imagine. I'm just speculating though.

Bingo. Mold spores are airborne pretty much everywhere and practically speaking, you can't really get away from them, so the most effective thing you can do to keep them from sprouting is keep the RH down - 65% or under should be about fine.

Maybe the temp is too warm? I know mold likes warm/damp/dark places.

I would say maybe recalibrating your hygrometer is in order. And try to keep the temp close to 65.

What are you using for humidification? If your not using beads and just the green foam you should be using propolyn glycol (sp?) to keep down mold growth. Honestly since I started using 65% beads 8 or so years ago, I have never had an issue with mold.

That was my thought. Plume is usually white... mold will look fuzzy, if its not fuzzy, its probably plume.
