Selling My Dad's Cigars?

Let me begin by saying that I don't smoke, and I know next to nothing about cigars. I live in the Seattle area, for what it's worth.

My dad, however, was an avid cigar smoker. When he passed away several months ago, he left a couple of small humidors of cigars behind.

My sister and I were tempted to just throw them away, but of course, we figured that someone else would appreciate them, and probably even pay for them. So, here I am, on a cigar forum.

I'm hoping that someone here can either (A) give me a little guidance about how much I might be able to get for these cigars and where I might sell them OR (B) make me an offer on them, if that is appropriate on a forum like this.

I'm not really interested in dragging this thing out. I don't want to figure out what the good ones are and separate them out and find people who want them, etc. I thought that I'd try to sell them in two batches, as I have them now... and if people get something they don't want, they can dispose of them as they please.

So, these are the contents of the boxes (according to the cigar labels):

Box 1:

Well Matthew, Let me first say nice bunch of cigars you have there...

This thread should be located elsewhere, You are a fairly new member so you probably don't have access to it yet but stick in there and you will... for the time being, Might I suggest giving some of your Pop's sticks a shot yourself... Maybe you'll find you and your Dad had similar tastes...

Nice selection but it really depends on how they have been maintained. If they have been left without any humidification then they are probably dried out. When that happens the cigars loose any oils that lead to any sort of flavor from the tobacco.


If you can give us some info on how they have been maintained we might be able to tell you if its a lost cause or not.

First off, it is not permissable to sell Cuban cigars on Cigar Asylum, so even when you had access to our Sales Forums, you could not sell the Cohiba, San Cristolbol, Bolivar or Montecristo Habanas here.

Selling cigars on our forum is a privilige that comes with time and participation.

You could try Craig's List or other avenues like that.

They look awful dry. I tried to rehumidify some dried out cigars once with limited success. Just not worth the effort IMHO.

Hmm. Well, this is Seattle, so nothing every really dries out... but I'm sure that the humidors have not been maintained at all since last July. I guess I'll just chuck these out after all then.

Sorry for your loss. Did you dad have any friends that smoke cigars? Maybe give them to them.

If not, take them to the local cigar store and give them to them.

It would be a shame to just toss them in the trash.

Definitely offer them to some of your Dad's friends. If he had any cigar smoking buddies, I'm sure they'd love to have one of his humidor to remember him by.

Don't throw them out though. There are plenty of local guys who would be happy to take them off your hands.
