Default Peterson P-Lip

Have a Peterson house pipe with that damned P-Lip stem, first P-Lip I’ve had. Took a while getting use to that odd button, found it somewhat easier getting a pipe cleaner into the bowl by removing that reducer thing. Still that upturned hole in the P-Lip tweaks a pipe cleaner enough that it’s difficult passing one into the bowl.

I have the skill and tools to make the modification.

Has anyone modified a P-Lip mouth piece?

Any other ideas?

D.

Just go real slow thats all I do. If you just can't stand it though, a Peterson authorized repair shop will make you a fishtail that will fit the metal system. Personally I just tough go real slow or just clean the pipe less often.

Thanks, I’ll look into having a stem with a fishtail bit made.

I breath through my nose with a pipe between my teeth. A small amount of breath passes through the pipe, moisture collects, the pipe becomes damp and needs to have a cleaner passed from time to time. I’ve smoked like this for more than two decades and am not about to change.

I take my pipes apart when cleaning them, this is not a problem.

Be well,

D.

Well I've done it. Rather than cutting off the end as intended, I used cutting reamers to the whole until there was a straight passage from tip to bowl.

Carbon steel cutting reamers used to open the stem up.
