Default Problems with My Father 1922 sticks

Hello all,

I recently picked up two My Father sticks. One Grand Robusto and one Toro. I had nothing but problems with them. They both started to unroll and crack in the humidor (none of the other 60+ sticks had any issues). Once I lite them up, the first 1/3 of the smoke was amazing. After that, I could not tell you as I could not keep either of them lite for more than 3 puffs. I re-cut them, re lite them etc and finally gave up about 1/2 way through.

I sent the company an email and have not heard any word from them. For $10+ per stick, I would have expected a better experience. Any of you guys had the same issues?

Cheers
Mark

Where did you buy them from?
Online or at a B&M?
How long after receiving did you let them sit?

Sounds like they were over humdified to me. For best results with Pepins, they need to be kept 65% and under.

I would say it was the shape of the cigars and not the cigar itself. They sound like they where to wet.

I picked them up from a BM here in Orlando. They were in the humidor (70rh)for about 5-10 days.

Have had many Pepin cigars and frankly never had an issue with any.
Your issue may have to do with how that cigar was kept in between being shipped by Pepin to being bought by you.

70% is too high IMO. Go down to 60%-65%.

The funny thing about it, is that all the other sticks in the humidor light and burn perfectly (Ashtons, Cohibas, Diamond Crown, RP, Brickhouse, Upmans etc) it was only these that I had a problem with.

I'll try one more and keep it in another humidor (65rh) and see if i have any better luck.

Cheers !
