Philip Zanghi has been in tobacco for the longest time, starting in the mid-1990s with his then business partner Rocky Patel and the Indian Tabac Co. After Patel and Zanghi went different ways, Zanghi focussed on other parts of the tobacco business but in 2012 he came back into the premium cigar industry with Debonaire House, cigars made at De Los Reyes on the Dominican Republic.

Zanghi also gained the rights to the Indian Motorcycle name when it comes to tobacco products. Zanghi’s family has a history with the Indian Motorcycle brand, as his father used to own the Indian trademark for a while back in the day. Since Rocky Patel changed the Indian Tabac Co into Rocky Patel Premium Cigars back in 2006 and discontinued the Indian Tabac cigar lines in 2015, nothing stopped Zanghi from returning with the Indian Motorcycle name on cigars. We will review the Indian Motorcycle cigars later this year on Ministry of Cigars.

The wrapper has a nice Colorado color. But the wrapper also looks a bit rough, the seams aren’t smooth. The beautiful, big, golden and brown ring makes up for it. The print quality is high and makes the cigar pop. The construction feels a bit on the hard side. The barnyard and swamp aroma isn’t very strong.

The cold draw is a bit tight, but still within reasonable margins. The flavors are spicy raw tobacco and pepper. After lighting the cigar turns out quite mellow with toast, leather and some cinnamon. The flavors then change to wood, grass, and leather. After a centimeter, the flavor is grass with wood and a metallic flavor, the mouthfeel is creamy. After a third, the grass flavor is still there, but now with hay and nutmeg. Halfway the flavors changed to toast with cinnamon before the cigar turns all spice, cedar, and red pepper. The last part is all pepper and cinnamon, full blast, no holding back. The last few puffs also give some hazelnuts.

The draw turned out great, even though the cold draw was a bit tight and the cigar felt hard to the touch. The smoke is good, the ash is firm and white but the burn had to be corrected a few times. The cigar is medium strong with mellow flavors and a strong finish. This cigar is very suitable for the lovers of Cuban cigars, especially the first two thirds. The smoke time is two hours and twenty minutes.
