British actor Alan Rickman has died, his agent confirmed to NBC News. He was 69.

I first saw him as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and have always remembered him.

A big loss to us all, and one actor my wife and I will certainly miss.

We first saw and enjoyed the acting of Alan Rickman in 1985 at the Royal Shakespeare theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, when Rickman was performing the role of Jaques in Shakespeares "As You Like It." What a performance! After, I turned to my wife and said,"We'll see this guy in a movie soon."

RIP Mr. Rickman...
