Default CAO Sopranos Boss

Rockestone posted on this cigar here:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showth...hlight=soprano
Seems like my experience was similar with the wrapper coming undone.

Unfortunately, this review isn't entirely complete, but here's what I posted (additional pics on my journal site):
http://wolfandwhisky.com/notes-cao-sopranos-boss/

The CAO Sopranos struck me as a well received cigar, and there was a period where people on Joe’s Banter were begging for it during Jambalayas. In fact, CI had a deal where you could get a large Sopranos sampler for something in the neighborhood of half off, and they were out within a couple of hours.

So I was excited after ordering a ten pack of the Sorpranos Boss. Unfortunately as mentioned in a prior post, I lost notes on three cigars, and this is one of them.

I’ll tell you what I remember, pleasant and otherwise.

The stick was big, with plenty of weight to accompany the size. At 7×56, it is reasonable to expect that it would take a while to burn through.

The construction was terrible. You’ll be able to see in the photos that this stick just didn’t hold together. Upon clipping, the wrapper at the mouth started falling apart. As the burn progressed, the wrapper started unraveling.

As for flavors – there was some variability, but it reminded me a bit of the Liga Privada line, and if memory serves me correctly, the T52. However, the flavor wasn’t as defined or as pronounced as the Liga, and for that I’d pose the question of why one would choose a Sopranos over a Liga.

All around, this stick just didn’t do it for me. While I don’t score with price in mind, I can tell you that at $12.00 to $17.00 per stick, it just isn’t worth it. Maybe I tried a dud, although I have seen reviews with similar experiences. Either way, I won’t be rushing to pick up anymore. In fact, of the 10 I ordered, I traded/donated 7, and have 2 remaining. To clarify, I did these trades prior to trying one – just to be clear that I’m not intentionally sending out sticks I don’t care for, although many people do really like these.

Maybe I’ll try one of the two I have left, just to see if the construction problems were a one off. Either way though, the flavor wasn’t overly impressive.

Rating: 7.0

Regret the Purchase: No, glad I got to try one especially considering all of the hype.
Buy Again: No.
Buy a Box: No.

The Sopranos line are the only CAO cigars worth buying

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.

I've had good luck with the Mx2 and La Traviata lines... I would like to try the Mx3 but I haven't put any effort into getting one yet

if you like the Sopranos, I've got two more that I don't need...

I love the Sopranos line. That and the La Traviata are two of my faves.

I've never had any construction problems with these - some inconsistency flavor-wise, which makes me agree they were overpriced - but I still like them.

this makes me hopeful, I have a Soprano boss in my humidor but I am afraid to smoke it. My run ins with CAO aren't that positive, except for the La Traviata.
