The Yankees are 'stepping up' their pursuit of Justin Duchscherer and still showing interest in Jeff Francis and Jeremy Bonderman.

Meanwhile Andy Favre.... I mean Andy Pettitte still has not decided if he will play or retire.

Not sure if anyone saw but the little girl that was killed in the Tucson shooting was the daughter of former Yankee John Green. Her grandfather was former Yankee manager Dallas Green. Condolences to her family and the other families affected by the attack.

They did not exist then. They were founded in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles, then moved to New York in 1903 as the Highlanders then became the Yankees in 1913.

Not quite; They were the Baltimore Orioles of the National League. They switched leagues in 1901.

Not quite. The Baltimore Orioles of the National League were contracted as a team after the 1900 season by the National League. The 'Yankees' a brand new team with no home tried to go to NY but the Giants blocked the move into the city. They then went to Baltimore in 1901 the first season of the franchise which is now called the New York Yankees.

As the bottom link shows if you scroll down, they were the old Baltimore Orioles of the National League.

The Baltimore Orioles of the National League (pre-1900) are not the same franchise as the Baltimore Orioles of the American League (1901).

Yes they are; that is why you will find that Mugsy McGraw was Player/Manager from 1899 through 1902.

John McGraw played for the Baltimore Orioles of the NL 1891-1899 and as a player manager in 1899. 1900 he played for the St. Louis Cardinals. There was no team in Baltimore in 1900 because the National League contracted it. In 1901 a new ownership put a team back in Baltimore and hired John McGraw as the player/manager for the 1901 & 1902 seasons.

You are not getting it. Same city, same name, but not the same franchise. The Baltimore Orioles of the NL were done after the 1899 season. The team was contracted, disbanded, destroyed, the players went elsewhere to play in 1900. In 1901 the American League wanted to put a team in New York but the Giants blocked the formation of this new franchise in New York. This new franchise then used their back up plan and went to Baltimore and called themselves the Baltimore Orioles. They hired former Baltimore player/manager McGraw for 1901-1902.

As I dig deeper into this, I'm finding contradictory information, but not any concrete organizational link. Ryan, it seems that I cannot prove my assertion and therefore must be in error.
