Did a little bit of early birthday shopping at Pipes by George today:

I originally had no plan of buying a pipe today, just was gonna stop in and look at some and pick up a new tin or two. As I'm looking George pulls this Nording down from the wall and hands it to me, and while I'm not normally a fan of a partially plateaux'd rim, I fell in love as the little bit of plateaux works perfectly as an index finger rest for my right hand. You know you have a (very good) problem when your local pipe shop owner can find the perfect pipe for you in just a couple tries.

No complaints thus far in the smoking department. I normally have a strong dislike of rusticated pipes, but this one was one of the few exceptions. I fell in love on first sight. The little bit of white acrylic or whatever it was he used takes the pipe from a good looking pipe to one of my favorites. Its funny how just the tiniest little things completely alter how we view things. Plus the bowl is nice and big which is perfect when you've got massive hands like me.

Funny how tastes are different too. I am not a big fan of accents on pipes - acrylic, bone, horn, silver, gold, anything. And while I like smooth pipes, I like rusticated better, and a crisp blast is my favorite.

The only one who needs to like your pipe, is you.

Peace of the Lord be with you.

My "Dracula" arrived. Finally found one with a stem swirl I liked in the shape I wanted. NOW, I just need to fix the pipe. Gotta make a slight modification to it.

I have a OLD Large Bulldog that I have been telling my wife now for the last 5 to 6 months that I am going to Sand Blast it and change the color. That pipe is Beautiful there. NICE work

I am going to have it blasted. Peterson never offered the 999 blasted, and I like the looks of the blasted Dracula pipes better than the smooth.

I'll agree with you there. I feel a blast could make that bad boy really shine. Nice pick up!

A gent from another pipe forum said he will be willing to do the blast for me. I have never had any emails or discussions with him prior to asking for him to do the blast. I have seen his work and feel confident he will do a good job.

This order just came in today. Little samples of Mclelland VBC, Georgian Cream, and Three Cherries. Those were to try, the 3 ounces of anni kake are what I'm most excited about.

The pipe will be my second cob, first unfinished, and I must say I like it better than my other MM. The stem insert sits right at the bottom of the bowl instead of leaving a large gap like on my other cob.

Gorgeous pipe! It's been too long since I smoked a pipe, I will have to rectify that after work today

Picked up a couple of things on opposite sides of the spectrum to see which end I may like better than the other. Here we go......
