Protip: His version of a permab& is dependant on your browsers cach. So simply switching browsers or clearing your cach will let you view the boards.

Haven't bothered to signup cause there is no reason to.

Believe me, if his ban's were based on browser cache then he has no clue how to operate a VB board nor does his webmaster.

I'm willing to bet that many of the passwords that mods had at CS are still active. Just remember to clear your browers cache.

Just generally speaking my guess would be that many old passwords still work.

Cheers,
Rob

If anyone still needs to tell anyone about the asylum over here, use this tinylink I set up:
http://tinylink.com/?eyxbkF3FUJ

It'll take them right to cigarasylum, and won't get censored out. If JC catches on and it does, just create a new one at tinylink.com

I gave Jon a negative RG hit to see what would happen. I put deleting and closing threads as the reason. He hits mine and says thanks for the bump. HAHA what a boner.

You'll have to pardon me, but it seems that this thread appears to be 53 pages long, much too long for an old gentleman as myself to lull away hours reading through the chronological banter of this conversation. If you would, kind sirs, point me as what ever became of the prestigeous club stogie? (Your supposed to read that while keeping an old-style aristocratic English accent in mind).

Ya, so...I am kind of interested in knowing what ever did happen over at clubstogie. It apparently started into motion before I ever got into the cigar scene. That being said, it was where I got started while searching for an intersection between cigars and internet, days after coming back from Cuba with Cohibas in hand. Within days someone kindly tapped me on the shoulder and pointed me towards the asylum. But, for weeks to months I would bounce back and forth. CA was just had so much more personality that I eventually stopped going to CS at all. But there is some naustalgia there, so it would be nice to know how things played out that eventually lead to this smearing of such an otherwise worthy place.

Cheers

I'll give you the cliff notes version from my perspective. CS is/was home to MANY of us for many years. During the fall of last year it was purchased by a guy named Jon Caputo. He purchased that and other sites as well at the same time. He informed the then MOD staff of his plans for the site in the near future. I was part of that MOD staff. The entire staff was not comfortable with the direction he wanted to take CS. So we, 100% of the CS MOD team, created a place for our friends and family on CS so the spirit of community that ClubStogie created could be kept intact. Thus was born the "Team of 11". 11 members who made up the entire staff of ClubStogie. We formed CigarAsylum in order to give cigar smokers an Asylum of sorts away from the commercial exploits of the newly formed Puff.

Most of the membership of CS migrated here when they saw what had happened to their home. We saw the writing on the wall and were able to act before all the changes went down.

Believe me my friend, no one was more sad than us as CS was our true home for many many years. Some had been members since its inception.

That in a nutshell is what happened.

There will always be people who don't know the true story. Its just sad that new members will never know the true beginnings of CS and how it was morphed into a comercial site and any hints at the greatness of the previous site will soon be removed.
