GOOD LORD guys... I don't think I've spent $500.00 in 2 years, and that includes humidors. That includes humidors and other accessories.
I generally smoke 2-3 a week now. There was a 10 month span where I couldn't smoke due to my anxiety. I always hunt for deals and due my research before hand to make sure what I'm getting is quality. I find myself spending an average of $3.00 a cigar, and I got some pretty impressive inventory. Though a lot of the higher end stock was gifted to me. It's great having friends. ![]() |

![]() I'm 23, currently working as a freelance web developer, and working on establishing a business. So as you would imagine budget always has to be on the mind. Friends and family have gifted me some nice high end cigars for birthdays and holidays, and friends online have been generous enough to expose me to some higher end cigars and cigars that aren't readily available at my local shop. |

More than some and less than others
![]() What I have spent over the past 5 years, is no where near what I spent partying in my 20's.

I've spent quite a bit, but not $15k. All hobbies are expensive. I'm also into guns, and that's worse than cigars. The price of ammo has gotten to be outragous, and seems to keep going up. Hell, if I could go back in time a few years I wouldn't be investing in stocks, I'd be buying all the 9mm and 45acp I could get my hands on.
At least it's something you enjoy. I look forward to my smoke time each day, somedays, it's the best part of my day. |

I'm a cheapskate. I would guess that in 3yrs. I've spent about $3,000 tops. And that's being very liberal with my guesstimating.

I buy all my cigars on credit cards and never pay them. I am going to declare bankruptcy next week, so my sum total for the last 5 years will be $0.
I keed, I keed.

I think all hobbies will end up costing us quite a bit, and if it something that makes us happy, I don't think we should worry about it. So long as its a healthy spending, that doesn't cause you to miss mortgage payments, rent, car payments, or run yourself into serious debt. My grandfather always said you never see an armored car following a hearse. Spend your money and enjoy your life, but remember your responsibilities.

![]() We are all different, and all subject to creating unintended interference in our lives with "excess spending". One of us spending $ 1000 could create the same problems in their household that another spending $ 100,000 would for theirs. It's the "it's all relative" comment used off and on here. It's a hobby that can provide great joy on a variety of fronts so long as we keep the financial aspect in proper perspective for each of us.

Well, I got bored yesterday at work. And I did it. I added up every cigar purchase I've made and can find a record of in the past eight months. Since I really started getting into this hobby (coincidentally when I joined CA...) I've spent approx. $2,200 on cigars and cigar related items. This isn't counting random singles I've purchased at B&M's, but it is every online purchase I've made, every WTS forum purchase, and the larger B&M purchases. Approximately $450 of that is cigar accessories (wine fridge, chasden drawers, cutters, lighters, ashtrays). I've sold ~$400 worth of cigars to recoup by doing partial splits on box purchases. That leaves me at around $1,350 in cigars that I have in my possession at the moment. Estimating between what I have that I've purchased and been gifted, I think I have close to 400 cigars between my vinodor, desktop humidor, and a couple of tupperdors. Here is what I've learned and figured out after adding all these things up.
So, I hope you found this post interesting and informative. My last comment is that I don't regret spending this money at all. It's a hobby that has brought me enjoyment and relaxation. Not only that, but it has introduced me to an amazing community of BOTL's and SOTL's, and while I know this might sound cheesy, that is seriously priceless. |
