Default Terminally Ill Cigar

A brother brought this stick to the book club tonite. He smoked one and said he had to put it down. He said it tasted downright nasty, like it had cleaner or something in it. It smells literally like wet grass that molded under a lawnmower deck (anyone who has cleaned a lawnmower deck would know exactly what smell I'm describing). Everyone examined it and smelled it. Just like wet, moldy grass. After some discussion, we all agreed there's no way this cigar will ever be anything but a dissectable specimen to see what the hell is up. Nastiest cigar I've ever smelled. Pic attached.

Damn, where did he get the thing? I've seen humidors that smelled like straight up mildew, usually ones at gas stations or grocery stores, maybe it was badly stored?

If it tasted like it had "cleaner" in it, then it COULD be too young. I've had a couple that were straight up Windex, but after a few months in storage, they were just fine.

did it smell like ammonia? If so, it's sick.

He got it from Neptune, supposedly a highly rated cigar which is what prompted him to purchase the sampler that had these in it. He said it was downright nasty, like smoking a piss soaked cigar.

It's too sick to recover. We all agreed after examination that the tobacco is basically uncured and is probably molding inside. The ammonia smell will knock you down.

Like smoking piss? Definitely sounds like ammonia, that couldn't have made him feel very nice after smoking it...

I have several bundles of these and several other Cuba Aliados versions. I really like them and haven't experienced anything like this. Really hate to hear you had a bad experience.

Maybe a bundle of improperly cured tobacco was mistakenly used. Maybe it was improper storage? Who knows?

I'm waiting on the smell to dissipate. I'm afraid it'll kill my parrot.

Not going to kill a $1200 bird to check out a $5 cigar.
