I think it's a great idea to let all 6 teams in the loser's bracket in. I can't imagine there will be any argument, and that'd be cool to let Stephen and Jeremy in on the action.
You guys do whatever you want, I'm fine with it.

Yahoo only shows the teams 5-8 playing in the consolation bracket. Do you think we should include everyone (asked to everyone)? If so, how should we do scores?

Ideas:
-Top two teams (no head to head) from this week play next week for "winner of losers bracket"?
-Top two teams (no head to head, BUT, 5th place gets spotted 25 points, 6th, 20 points, 7th 15 points, 8th 10 points, 9th 5 points, 10th 0 points) gives everyone a chance at it?

Just trying to be fair and throwing out some ideas...what you all think?

If you guys want to do something outside of Yahoo! I can keep track of it...I think I am pretty good at that

Or we can leave it alone and let the head to head this week play out for teams 5-8 and then the winners play for the next round.

Ok, here is what I think we should do based on Mark's comment and to be as fair as possible.

all 6 consolation bracket teams are in a running at winning the bracket.

the 3 top scoring teams from this week (week 16) in the consolation bracket will move forward to next week's championship.

The top scoring team from next week (week17) will win the consolation bracket.

This eliminates 3 teams in week 16, and allows 3 chances at the winnings.

If no disagreement, I will keep track of this and post in the thread who moves on and who is out. Good luck to all!

I still like the idea of the top two teams out of 6 going head to head for the consolation prize. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

If you're going to do that, you'd almost have to seed this week. 5, 10, 7 and 6, 9, 8 go head to head, then the winner of those two brackets go head to head in week 17.
I don't think it's a bad idea, and I'd probably vote for it, but I think Cole's setup is more fair to everyone involved and more likely to bear out the fairest result.
Plus it's nice and simple.

We should also set this up at the beginning of the year next year and jam it in the rules. That way a guy can work his matchups for the playoffs and trade/make moves to prepare for week 16 and 17.

I'm not sure how this more simple. If we split into two groups of 3 teams, then it is possible that all 3 teams from one group would score higher than the others. Under this sort of arrangement it is possible to have the highest scoring team playing against the 4th highest, leaving the 2nd highest scoring team out.

You missed me, Mark. The highest scorer in the 5,7,10 group would play the highest scorer of the 6,9,8 group in week 17. Standard Tournament seeding.
I had thought the highest two scorers of the bottom 6 teams should play next week for the championship. Cole's idea just improved on that by allowing one more team in next week, and I'm good with that. Great idea.

I guess I'm still not sure what you're saying Scott. What I think you're saying is that we would split into 2 groups of 3 teams seeded by record and then the 2 winners of those groups in week 17 would play in the final week for consolation champ.

Edit- I am also assuming you are thinking this for next year

Mark, I think the disconnect here is that you're going for what you want to do and Scott is going for what he can do based on the parameters of the website...

Matt's right, I was just thinking out loud, looking at other ways we could do the loser's bracket next year.
The way I mentioned could be set up inside Yahoo and it'd do everything automatically, not that we need to do it that way.
Cole has been taking care of all the Commish duties, and doing a damn fine job of it. He's gonna take care of the whole loser's bracket thing, so I'm 100% behind him, however he wants to do it.

We're gonna try it just like Cole mentioned, see how it plays out, and then make note here so we can squish it into the ever-expanding rulebook next year.

We also need to discuss what we're going to do with the pass.
Cole says it's slap full and it'd be a good idea to retrieve some or all of my sticks. It should be to me soon and I'll decide what to do. I'll refill it with whatever we need in there, supplies-wise.

There's what, a good two months of football left?
I'd think it can easily go all the way around and back to me before the season is over. We can pick a time to shut it down till next season fires up, or carry on with whoever wants to continue. Whatever you guys want, it makes no difference.

I was thinking we should start up the next FF season very early to poll guys to see if they want back in, allowing us time to find good, established members as replacements if necessary. That's just something to mull over for awhile. We don't even need to look at it until maybe Super Bowl?

That's all I have. If you guys have any other thoughts for changes or improvements to the league, you can toss them out there any time. Guys can mull over the suggestions and we can discuss them around Super Bowl time to get ready for next year.

It's been a crazy awesome league this year, and I think the pass really added some extra fun to it. I hope it helps to make guys hang around.

I love the idea of keeping this going at least one more pass before the end of the season...then, I think Scott (speaking from total assumptions) has room to keep the sticks in good shape until the next season starts.

As for what to do with the pass for the next go round...I suggest a few things (please weigh in and let Scott know which would be better):
1.) I sent Scott the Excel file that has all the sticks listed on it...it has his remaining sticks listed on it, and which ones were taken in the first two passes...I suggest he take out the remaining sticks from his original puts, because the pass is starting to take fine shape now with everyone dropping a couple extra sticks in each go round.
2.) Have Scott leave everything in the pass except for his next round of puts and takes, but get a new styrofoam cooler and box, so we can fit more sticks in...this suggestion would require additional $$ for someone to ship the box insured.

There are goods and bads for each scenario...for #1, I want more of Scott's original sticks
#2, it costs more money to keep moving...

What do you all think?
