Normally I make up a character from stuff i already have. A couple years ago I bought some toy pistols & badge to go w/my boots and Cowboy hat = sheriff

Last year I wore suspenders, boy tie, a fedora and carried around my pipe = historian (which is what I am in grad school for)

I even ran into Castro at a party!

I almost blew off a finger... but I don't think mixing hydrogen chloride and aluminum is really an "experiment"

The first day of Chemistry our professor did this for us to demonstrate the fun we would be having that year.

Oh, and I can get proof tonight if you REALLY want it but I'm at work right now so you know....

I went as a chick magnet a few years ago - I took my sisters' barbies from my parents' basement and pinned them to a sweatshirt. It was money and really easy.
