I may be mistaken, but aren't the White Owl's just a normal gas station cigar?

You mean like this?
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=21847 You caught me just in time. I was just about to head outside with it, I think that I'll follow your advice and let it age a few more years. |

I have a very few that I'm hanging onto for a special day. The others are fair game. If I die before smoking the "special" cigars, my son will have something to smoke at my wake.

Hmmmmmm,
I agree with the concept of nothing is untouchable. However, the reason certain sticks in my humi's don't get smoked is I find that I prefer cigars with at least 3 years of age if not more on them. Since I cannot readily obtain these cigars on a daily basis it behoves me to make sure that I have an adequate supply so that I can age my own. This is the intent that I buy with, not they are untouchable but rather that I would like to wait a while till they are more in my preferred state. I would agree whole heartedly that there is a huge difference between collecting and ageing. But as is with everything in this hobby/obsession of ours..........to each their own and no others should pass judgment. |

I decided a few years ago that nothing I had was untouchable. It is still that way today. I pretty much know what I like at this point and I have collected enough that I have some put away for aging and the rest I smoke.

I actually ran into this exact question the other day. I ran into someone wanting a specific HTF sitck that I had a box of. He offered a cash/trade deal. I almost didn't accept because I kept wanting to hold these cigars for a special time. I finally realized that the deal he was making included some sticks I may never again get the chance to smoke, so I made the deal. I've decided that if I'm not gonna smoke them soon, then let someone else have them, for the right price of course....

I have every day smokes, and I have special weekend smokes. If I make it to the weekend, I treat myself; since I'm still alive, I make it to the weekend pretty often.
But to be a little more serious, my milestone smokes were very nonchalant. My first cigar? Random walk in the park. My first Cuban? While I was work on Facebook. What I think is, that the occasion makes the cigar rather than the vice-versa. For instance, my wedding smoke was what I considered one of my daily smokes, yet is now my favorite cigar because of the memories associated with it. Ultimately, although I "collect," every one of the cigars in my stash will meet it's end in a fiery, violent death, by my hand or those of my friends.

I bet if you dipped it in the BBQ, let it dry, and then smoked it; it would make for a slightly less horrific experience.
![]() Of course you would use the beer to chase each puff...

I was holding some cigars (Padron 80 Year Anniversary Maduro) for special events and like others found myself with a box of unsmoked cigars.
What I decided to do is revise my notion of "special". Sometimes a nice Sunday afternoon is special. Or, having an after-dinner smoke with my son. Life's too short...

The only ones I hold are the super-premiums (i.e. Opus X type) that I have yet to try. I let them rest until I have a time where I can really focus on the stick. Once I've done that... any others are fair game at any given moment based on what I want at the time.

I can identify with this even after only a year or so smoking cigars (maybe 4 months of aging). As I have a few romeo y julietta (dom.) that I just will not touch till they're ready. I have no earthly idea when that is but I can only imagine how long I'd let an opus X or LP flying pig sit before giving them a light.
