My preference is for sealed, but as long as the cigars are fine it really doesn't make a difference.

I want them to be opened so there are no surprises. I always ask non-US vendors to open and inspect the cigars before they ship them out as well.

As of now...vote is 45 either opened or doesn't matter..far more than the 13 sealed voters.

Sealed voters - what makes the sealed box better to you?

I guess, for me, it's a personal hang-up. Not sure I can explain "why" past that, it's just what I prefer.

Depends on the source, or what I'm buying. Over-seas buying, I like them to be opened and inspected, and shipped with extra padding in the box so the heads/feet don't get all beat up.

Buying in Country, either way is fine.

As for the Collector in me, I want any "collectable" boxes in their original format. Half the draw to alot of collectors is originality. They want to open the box, and see the sticks still bound in paper, or foil, or wax paper, still have the wheel banded, etc...IMHO

I agree, it depends a lot on the source.
but overall, I would prefer open. It allows m to look in and verify the condition of the contents before I walk away with them.....

They should be open. The seller should know the condition as well as buyer before concluding business.

What if the sealed box had real crap cigars in it? How would the seller know? Now the sale has become a hassle. I appreciate knowing that the box is/was sealed, but before I buy something privately, both parties need to be in concert on what is being sold.

I don't care if it is an individual reselling or a company. I want it opened and inspected before I pay for it.

If I was selling a person a box of cigars and it was sealed, which only about 8 percent of the boxes I
own ARE, I would ask, do you want it sealed or not. If they selected sealed, the problems inside
would be their own problem once they opened it up. But if the seal was intact, I WOULD sure ask.
When it comes to cigar state, I do not play. I am not Joe Vendor, with unlimited boxes to replace with.

I guess it depends on the cigars. I may want an unopened box so I know that they are all the same and not from different boxes. In other cases, I may want to know the box has been opened and is free of mold or beetles. I guess a sealed box is more enticing though. Like Vin's JAR of Tat Blacks. TEMPTING AS HELL, but way to rich for my skinny wallet.

I actually prefer a box to be opened for inspection. I have purchased full/sealed boxes from many places (private and shops) that had damage or mold. In the case of a shop, they almost always replace it. But PMing a private party and saying that the box you got was all messed-up ... yea, doesn't go over so well. I'd prefer them to check first.
