With Garcia on the mound and the run lately I expected to wake up to a bad loss this morning. I was happy with what I saw. Looks like he pitched pretty well. Funny that Freeze does not hit a HR for 17 at bats until today and he is being said to be in a slump, lol!

I expected the same thing ... what a pleasant surprise.

It's amazing what good pitching can do for you ... can't expect to out-slug the other team every game.

I'm a little worried about the injury bug. First, Beltran. Then, Jay. Now, I hear that Craig has some sort of hamstring issue that may keep him out through the road-trip. All key players ... not good.

Salas walked in the winning run? On four pitches?

Yeah, WTF? It's bad enough that injuries are popping up left and right. I really thought that Matheny was being overly cautious early on my giving so many days off to the guys. But the Cards have to get the basics together like they were in the beginning of the season. Also I'm betting that Beltran ends up on the DL shortly with he knees.

Maybe it would help if he just stood still out in right field. I doubt if we would notice the defensive difference. Sorry ... kinda grumpy.

Mornings can be a b*tch at times.

I think Beltran is very good in the outfield. He is very smooth and natural out there and has a cannon for an arm. It may be that for the past few weeks he has kept the knees under wraps and that is hampering his efforts

It's not that he is missing balls that are hit right to him. He's just not able to get to a lot of balls that a lot of outfielders could reach. That leaves a sizable gap down the right-field line (saw this last week when we were at the game) and forces the centerfielder to cover more ground than is humanly possible (saw this last night with balls hit into a "gap" that shouldn't have been there).

Berkman out for the season. Sorry for your loss. As a Reds fan, it still kinda sucks b/c you always want to face the best competition. This one is gonna hurt the Cards.

Still, it's not over yet. Just look what you guys managed to do last year with a lot of holes in the roster.

It does look like Lance Berkman is out, not only for the season. I really have to say he was one of the most important players last year that lead the Cards to #11, not only for his bat and glove but his presence on the team. The is no one that can fill those shoes.

Good news the losing streak was broken tonight. But I'm still asking myself why Garcia was left in after he was showing signs of struggling after the 7th. I will also say he is the only starter to routinely go 7 innings, who would have thought?

Hell of a game last night, rally after rally but in the end a 6-0 deficit was a little much to come back on. I think Freeze tore the cover off the ball "The Natural" style on his home run. Something like 430+'? 2nd longest in new Busch history. But pitching has to get better and the umps strike zone can't be an excuse.

Missed the game. But I saw in the box score that Salas had his name in the ususal spot ... next to the L. Didn't look like Westbrook pitched much of a game either. Glad to see that the rest seemed to really help Freeze. Heard that Berkman had his knee surgery this morning.

Yeah, we need a miracle for Berkman!

And we MAY have gotten one. 8-10 weeks for Lance to return.

Matt Adams caught my attention during Spring Training. He was tearing it up at AAA. Only 23 years old, with 29 at-bats in StLu, he's hitting .345 with 5 extra base hits. Is he ready for prime-time?

First NoNo for the Cards since 1990. But, I was actually more disturbed by the 8 runs we gave up. I'm afraid the farm call-ups aren't going to fix the pitching problems.

Seems like the MLB has figured out the Cards pitching. It started off so great and now it's looking like a train wreck. The guys have the stuff but the wheels keep falling off. Things are not looking good with all the injuries, I mean if and when the main squad comes back are they going to play right? The way things are going AAA Memphis is going to be the 40 man roster

How does the Cards farm system look at this point? Anybody they could offer as trade bait later in the season? I know Cincy pretty much gave up the whole farm to get Latos and Marshall in the offseason, so they're not going to make any big impact trade before the deadline.

From what I understand Andy the system is very good and where several of the new roster players came from. Problem is that well is only so deep and I'm not sure how many more players there are.

You guys have had a lot of call-ups this season. No time like the present to prove themselves.
