I think my grandson may have just screwed me up.
Found him messing with the phone and now seems the download is stuck.

I'm just now updating my phone. I downloaded it earlier and waited to come back and plug it back in. It's just finishing the install now.
Lisa updated hers earlier. There's lots of neat new stuff. She even pm'd me a screenshot of her new desktop on her phone. That was wicked cool.

I guess timing is everything. I updated my 3gs 2 hours ago and it downloaded and installed in less than 20 minutes. I am now updating my wifes 3gs and it is reporting 3 hours to download.

Yea, but it comes with a new two year contract.

I canceld my down load because it hadn't even gotten to the "b" in backing up yet. Just restarted it twenty minutes ago and its to the "k"

Pete,
You can do that without any app.
You can use Garage Band if you have a Mac and can create any ringtone you want and then assign it to whoever you want.
I have Pants on the Ground for my son as it reminds me of my battles with him when he was younger.
I have the Geico Ring Ding Dong song from the commercial as my generic tone.
