It took me a few minutes to gather myself after that ending and my wife was in tears.

We are both wondering if the new season will begin with the last season being a dream, but it seems like a fitting ending, however surprising.

I knew it was gonna be a good ending, but never expected THAT.

Something seemed wierd when Trinity said "it's already over", as Dex was about to hammer him.

David, if you haven't seen it yet, don't read any further. It's been 24 hours, so the silence is being broken.

The whole Dallas "dream" thing's been done before. Don't think that will happen, but I have absolutely no clue how the next season starts. Will Deb move in to help take care of the kids? Will the older two be under his care or go to the grandmother (or any other of Rita's family member)? I know that he'll definitely have his child, but not sure about the other two. Does Dexter have to own up to anything with Miami Metro after Trinity killed in his house? What the F**k happens now? I guess we'll have to wait a year to find out.

My only beef with it is that Dexter's son is just too young to remember any of what happened....unlike when Dexter himself was in the similar situation as a child. He keeps talking throughout the season about 'loss of innocence' but for his son to have lost his innocence (as he had at around age 5 or so), doesn't he have to be older than a year old baby?

Ok, can't stop thinking about this.....and Rita being killed in the bathtub in his home....begs the question....was this the first murder in that home or is this a repetition of a prior murder???? And...had Trinity already started (or finished) his next series of killings???

The boy he kidnapped began that series of murders, then Rita was next, then he never finished the cycle.

Don't think any murders had happened in that house before. She was merely a tool for Trinity to get to Dexter.

Wow. What a great end to the season. So many things they can do with the next season now. I hope they follow it up well.

Yeah, I thought the Sopranos was good, but Dexter blows it away. The ending of the Sopranos was a total letdown. Never was able to get into Sons of Anarchy and gave up watching it.

I am a Dexter addict.

Started watching Six Feet Under thru DVD's from Netflix and really like it. Like Dexter I find the characters to be interesting. And for the record I really liked Rita and will miss her. Can't wait for season 5.

I thought Rita was annoying during the last two seasons, but I will miss her too, Frank. Despite being annoying sometimes, I wasn't ready to see her go. Is it just me or did anyone else find her to become more good-looking each season?

Dexter is going to fish him out of the ocean, re-animate him and kill him again.

What a finish! I'm going to miss Rita

I haven't seen this show yet, but I just got series 1 thru 3 from a friend who works at Showtime. It's time for me to catch up and start watching season 4.

Well this seasons ending, along with the only bookstore in town closing and offering 40% off, got me inspired to buy all the books. Hope to have them read by next season.

Clyde Phillips (exec prducer/showrunner) is leaving the show. Taking his place will be some guy from "24".

Don't know how good Dexter will be from this point.

Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow both won Golden Globes. I did not know that Hall had cancer until today. I hear it's in remission. Thoughts and prayers sent.
