Mickey Redmond explained it last year (I think) when they switched to Reebok jerseys. It had to do with how much room was available after the Wings logo was stitched on. The CCM and Nike/Bauer jerseys had it on the left side. The Reebok jerseys are "tighter fitting".

Yeah, if you look close you can see that the tip of the wing would probably overlap the C if it was on the other side.
