When do you tip the ash on your cigar?

I can usually get a pretty good feel for when it's getting weak, so I'll ash it then. Now and then I'm wrong.

1 to 1-1/2 most times. If I am smoking a Cigar new to me I want to see how the cigar is constructed. Also for reviews I let it hang...
