I don't recommend the use of the built in humidifier on the cigar caddies. Because the cigar caddy seals airtight, it's typically not necessary to have the extra humidification, it's also a recipe for over humidified cigars and possibly even mold in the caddy.

If you need to have humidification in a cigar caddy, I would recommend a boveda pack, the humidity sheets from heartfelt or a very small bead bag from HCMbeads (although you will lose the space of one cigar with the latter), as all of these are 2-way and will prevent cigars from becoming over humidified too.

The RH that straight water in a foam humidifier will yield might get higher than what the PG/H2O solution would yield, in which case the cigars can be over humidified and will smoke accordingly. If you had two humidors, both at the same RH, one which used just distilled water in the foam humidifier, the other which used solution, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in which cigar came from which humidor.
