One thing about beads -- all beads, not just HCM beads -- they work through exposed surface area. So the more surface area exposed to the air space inside the humidor the better. As far as positioning your bead tray is fine -- I would would make the sides smaller (lower) -- just big enough to hold the beads in place. Just my
