One of the first things I did when I moved to NC. My carry weapon is a Springfield Champion Lightweight 1911(.45).
What's the wait for them these days? I know before Obama you could get your permit in a few weeks here in NC after completing the classes. After Obama everyone freaked and it became 3 months.

An article I read stated that her reasoning behind it was because she received some personal terrorist threats.

So, let me get this straight. She had a personal security detail and she still needed a CCW? Wow, a CCW must be more effective than most gun banners thought. Oh wait, she's a gun banner. What a paradox.

If they aren't effective at preventing harm/crime, then why get one?

If they are effective, why can't everyone else get one?
