Should I buy a digital media streaming device...

I currently have an HP Pavilion laptop right beside my TV, on a desk connected via HDMI. I just find it a hassle to have to manually switch the video displays back and forth, and the resolution on the TV as a monitor is mediocre.

I can't think of any other reason I would need one, though. I get my movies online as is, as do I the music through online streams or from the hard drive.

Anyone still suggest I buy one; what positive changes could it bring my media usage, and why?
