That "other" Cuban in my house finally did it.
After nearly 40 years. After lots of nudging from me that ultimately turned into outright harassment (27 years of it to be exact). After having to download the application for her. After giving her the funds for the cost which has gone up to nearly $700 from the $300 long ago when I started on her case over it. After typing and mailing the application for her, tracking her dates/notices received, organizing and collecting all the documents she would ultimately need, SHE DID IT. She just passed her citizenship test today and will be sworn in within the month as an official citizen of our great land, that welcomed her and so many Cubans with open arms and we have all since joyously called home. I can't believe I finally pulled it off. Why did she wait that long? Did she not want to do it? Only one word, with an added adjective can explain it. PURE LAZINESS She was actually in tears over it today. The worker who interviewed her showed her a litany of documents her mother had filed for her years ago, with photos, mom's signature and other things that brought her now deceased mom's memory to bring her to tears. Congrats to my better half!!!
