cigars and root beer

I tend to smoke a lot of maduros and if I'm not drinking whiskey or coffee, root beer and diet coke are my drinks of choice. weird thing is I like Barq's root beer the most, but not with cigars, then I prefer the sweeter root beers like mug or a&w. I guess the sweeter drinks compliments the flavors more in my opinion. Will have to try root beer with other cigars and see if it compliments their flavors.
