The iOS4 gets released today (just the operating system). The iPhone 4 is released on the 24th.

And just a warning: word around the campfire is that iOS4 isn't so friendly to the 3G. 3GS is looking good (as some of you have already experienced).

I figured that would have to be the case since they said that you must be connected to wi-fi to use it.

Although mine is ordered and expected to be delivered around 7/6-7/8, I was thinking of taking a ride to the mall on Thursday just for kicks and giggles.
I am curious to see the line.
I figure I will take a look at the line, turn around and go grab lunch at Chick Fil A, then hit the road and patiently wait for mine to eventually arrive.

speaking of "case", will I need a new Otterbox for the 4G or will the old one work?

Sorta defeats the thinner design benefit, but I cracked 2 screens on my 3G

It's a totally new design so I would be surprised if the current gen cases work.

Like I said above, you're probably going to see some problems ... particularly sluggishness. But the purtiness should balance it out.

Just realized, I ordered the 16G iPhone 4.
While downloading the new system, I just realized I only have 5.94 free space on my current 16G 3G.
Perhaps I should have dropped the extra money for the 32G.
I guess I will have to eventually remove some stuff to make room.
