Let's See Those Insect Photographs...

The other evening, my daughter had pointed out to her mother and myself, a couple of large beetles outside the front door. I thought maybe they might be June bugs.

This morning, the two beetles were still out on the front door area (doing that beetle thing I guess) as I was leaving to do some field work. So I pulled out my camera and set in on its macro setting and took these:

I looked the beetles up on-line and they are either a Lined June Bug or a Ten-Line June Bug.

I found one of these on my front porch right before the Chico Herf, last Saturday! We all joked about it being a tobacco beetle.

Found one of these at the Pig Roast, Barn Herf! It landed on Mike (BorisTheBlade)... I saved his life!!!

It's called a snake fly!!!

I took these pictures on a camping trip last summer. I believe it's a Polyphemus moth.
