Nice score, I have the exact same pipe and I love it! I'm not crazy about the drinkless system, but it doesn't effect the smoke. I just wish I could run a pipe cleaner through it.

Nice score Marc.
Alex, the drinkless system supposedly works as follows - when the smoke is drawn up into the stem the moisture condenses and collects on the ball and keeps it from reaching your mouth. Since I don't have a Kaywoodie myself, I don't know how well it works first hand and I've heard mixed opinions. Let us know what you think.

Not sure if there is such a thing as a "vintage" Kaywoodie. However, hope it smokes well for you. But it is a nice looking pipe.
Get rid of the insert if is one in there, it smokes better.

Well, this one dates back to 1950-1955...that's pretty vintage to me...can't take out the insert and in this case it's a 4-holer which would absolutely destroy the pipe...the metal does a pretty good job of trapping moisture and if it gurgles it's usually just a bit too wet at the end of the stinger...a pipe cleaner pushed up to that point will soak up some of it and solve the problem...

Yep, that's what I did to a very recent Kaywoodie Drinkless Prince as it was a cheap pipe...but not gonna even think about that for my 50's and 60's Kaywoodies...

Nice 01 Marc! I've got 2 and like them both. I'm like you, I won't cut the stinger off of an older KW, but the few "newer" ones I have, 3 hole stingers, got neutered to I could run a cleaner through them.
If the guilt of buying that pipe so cheaply is killing you, I'll gladly take $40 to help you feel better.
