I looked back to june of last year and didn't see a thread.
So post up your favorite covers, songs that in your opinion are better than the original. I have to start with the no brainer, Hurt as performed by Johnny Cash. After hearing Johnny's version Trent Reznor said he was in awe and that Johnny Cash made this song his own. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o22eIJDtKho Second I will have to go with Always on My Mind as performed by the Pet Shop Boys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX2wybAIAHU |

Sorry, but IMHO there's only one answer to this question:

Johnny Cash does a lot of amazing covers, a couple of my personal faves are "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and "Personal Jesus".
Though not a big country fan, I do love Wille Nelson's takes on many old standards..."Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is the first to come to mind. My all-time least favorite cover, which many people seem to love, is Metallica's version of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page"....just brutal.

Agreed. It's sad that something, once heard, can never be unheard.

Cash's version of Hurt is heartbreaking and the best cover of all time.

Johnny did a great rusty cage.
Foo fighters and Brian may do a nice pink Floyd have a cigar. Neither better than original IMO Priest diamonds and rust however IMO is better than Joan's |
