Hunting Season

Hunting season has started for archery only. I did all my prep-work...
I scouted the area all summer. . . I searched out the best location for my tree-stand . . . I set it all up a month ahead of time. . . I trailed the herd . . . I picked out a trophy buck .. ..Two days before opening day I rechecked every aspect of the hunt . ..
Everything was in place . . . Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 am . .. .
I put on my camo, loaded my pack, set out for my stand . . .
This was destined to be an epic hunt . . . As I approached my deer stand ...

I decided to go to church instead.

I grew up bating black bears in Alaska. Them black bears can climb just about anything that can hold their weight. I once watched a smaller black bear slalom the top of a wood fence for about 40 feet to get to some bird seed. Made for a pretty entertaining afternoon.

This is a good read and great pics of a pretty cool fall hunt in Alaska.

That is one lucky man. When I was up there most people had given up on finding a sizeable rack in Alaska. Most big trophy guys had and have moved on to getting big Moose racks in Russia. I have personally seen racks as big as that one come out of Russia, they are staggering to behold.
