Any problems leaving glass top unhinged?

I have a 50 count glass desktop humi that leaked like a seive. I took it apart, applied some weather stripping and clear silicone and now it is time to re-season. I just have the glass top setting on the base without the hinges hooked to the top. Does anybody see any problems with this? It's got a good seal so I think I should be good to go. TIA for your advice.
