Palio Esencia LTD 2008 Review

The Esencia cigars were introduced in 2008 by Brothers of the Leaf, LLC. The cigars are Nicaraguan puros which come in five vitolas: a 5.63 X 46 Corona Gorda; 5.13 X 42 Petit Corona; 4.88 X 50 Robusto; 7 X 47 Churchill, and today’s featured cigar a 5.5 X 52 Belicoso. The Brothers of the Leaf also manufacture the Palio cutter.
I've Always Wanted To Try This Cigar, Especially After Several Of My Brothers On This Forum Touted It As "The Best NC" They've Ever Smoked!

I Purchased 2 of The Belicosos From Dave @ Empire Cigars For $10/Stick And Rested Them For 2 Weeks In My Humi @65 RH.
On To The Review:

Initial Appearance Is A Beautiful, Well Shaped Stick. Nice Tobacco Aroma.

Paired With My Favorite Brew!

Initial Burn & Draw Were Excellent. Nice "Tanginess" Reminding Me Of A CC & Illusione.

Ash Fell After A Solid 1.5". I Detected A Nice Caramel & Cinnamon Initially.

I Lost The Caramel & Cinnamon Flavors After The First 1/3; Tanginess Remained. No Draw Or Burn Issues & Duration Of Smoke Was 80 Minutes To The Nub.

Is This The Best NC Out There? Not IMO. It Was Very Good, But My Fav. Is The Tat Reserva SW. I'm Resting My Other Esencia Another 6 Months & See How It Develops.

Glad you liked yours Greg. I didn't care for the one I smoked. I'll possibly give them another shot in the future though.

Nice review Greg. This is the ONLY stick I have ever had (and have smoked 4 of these) that brings me to tears...I don't know why, but this stick is my kryptonite. I LOVE them, but they whip my ass everytime.

Those 9's do go well with a smoke. Nice review. Are the 9's the only Magic hats you can get in your area...
