After a few chilly nights, we're going to be warm while herfin' in the Man Den! Thanks to John and Jimmy (can't mention their last names) I will soon have heat in the Man Den. I was looking for an small, old potbelly stove to provide some warmth, but didn't want to spend $300. I saw the barrel stove kits, and was going to make my own, but then John told me to hold off. This is what he and his brother made for me:
![]() Handmade in the USA! The only non-handmade item is the collar and damper on top. We got that from a kit. I'll be getting the stovepipe today, and we should be able to fire it up this weekend for Kung Fu Theater Saturday Night. ![]() Those guys are great and I can't thank them enough, though I will certainly try with cigars and adult beverages! Great work, guys! I love it. |

Here's the update! We have heat! Thanks to John and Jimmy (and of course my wife Denise, for this wonderful 40th birthday present) once again. Here are the pics:
![]() That's Devon looking in. ![]() Max enjoying the warmth. ![]() Two key components of any Man Den: heat and DirecTV! ![]() A thing of beauty! |

Great looking fire and man den.
You might want to add a little reflector/shield behind the stove to protect that wood wall. It could be something as simple as a piece of sheet metal as wide as the stove and a little taller. Make sure to use stand-offs or spacers to keep an air gap behind the shield. |

Looks awesome Stephen! Congrats on the warm addition to enjoy those cold winter days/nights! You're lucky, I froze my butt off on NYE smoking on my balcony!
