Got my single engine license back in '96 I think, started on my commercial/instrument, but kinda faded away. Haven't been up in 10+ years. Big difference in cost now compared to when I was flying at $41/hour.

another shame. I wish it was 41$/hr. I'd fly 4 hrs a day consistently.

I've thought about one day (when my student loans are paid off making me 100% debt free) buying a 1/4 or 1/5 share of a cherokee 140 or cessna 152. You can get a lot more hours for the money that way. |

aircraft is much more affordable in the states than in canada. The supply in the states is alot higher than in canada so the prices tend to be lower.

I was learning in the late 90's in Florida. I have soloed in 3 different airplanes and was very close to my checkout ride. My instructor got an airline job, and the head instructor was so tense, I couldn't relax while flying. They closed the school, after 9/11, yes it was the same school that taught the F-ing terrorists to fly.
I do have my P-3 Paraglider pilots license

Do you have the same legal/liability framework to contend with that we have in our sue-happy society? Insurance is a big cost here, which is factored into the cost to purchase (Cessna sure wants a huge chunk to settle a big claim down the road), not to mention what the flight schools will pay.

We do carry the same liabilities and legal responsibilities that any of our neighbours would carry but I could imagine that our premiums might be lower. I can't comment for certainty though because I don't really know.
