Good to know the Supreme Expert on Everything has joined the board, I know longer need to have an opinion, I can just follow you around to see what is good.  
I will agree that these are not necessarily "Upmannesque" in flavor. But I like lots of Cuban cigars that aren't Upmann, so them not having the distinct Upmann profile isn't a factor in my liking or not liking them. I have probably smoked 5 or 6 in the last couple months, not a "harsh" one in the bunch.
